Jhucareys Brian Gunia Wins Outstanding Published Article Award From Conflict Management Group

Gunia was acknowledged for the paper âPaying a worth: Culture, trust, and negotiation penalties,â revealed July 2011 within the Journal of Applied Psychology(/journals/apl/ninety six/four/774/). He was the lead writer of the article, joined by co-authors Jeanne Brett of Northwestern University and Amit Nandkeolyar and Dishan Kamdar of the Indian School of Business. The paper argues that various levels of trust account for the divergent bargaining strategies observed among folks from completely different cultures. Consequently, negotiators from less trusting cultures (for instance, India) tend to have interaction in counterproductive behaviors that lead to poor outcomes, until they will overcome their propensity to dis trust. A member of the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School faculty since 2011, Gunia holds a PhD in management and organizations from Northwestern University. His research and instructing interests are in the areas of negotiation, ethical determination making, and organizational failure.
